Périgord Beers: Our Story
We are delighted to welcome you to our home of Périgord Beers. We’re the Povey Family and we have our very own, hard-working & thriving microbrewery of which we’re immensely proud.
Located in the very heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin in Northern Dordogne, you’ll find us hidden away in the woods on the banks of a peaceful lake. Our French on-site brewery was born from a deep and passionate love for great-tasting craft beers. It’s courtesy of this passion, and the ongoing support of our customers, friends, and family that our dream continues to live on.
We are sure you’d like to read and connect a little more with our flourishing microbrewery – so here goes…
To help you understand us a little better, our home is a former working mill. Yet to elaborate a little further, it’s in an old stone barn next door where the beer-making all takes place. The barn is always packed full of bottles of beer, a comfy tasting corner, and at the very core, the brewhouse where beer creation all takes place. We firmly believe that the process of our beer production is one that is a true heart and soul procedure. It’s one that’s artisanal… from A through to Z.
But what does that mean, exactly? Well, to give you an idea of what this means to us, let’s roll out a few examples, rules that we adhere to. We feel it’s about using only the very best raw ingredients, creating our own natural CO2 during secondary fermentation in the bottle or keg, working hand-in-hand with nature and the environment at each twist and hurdle – occasionally even using handpicked produce from our own garden to create some pretty exclusive aromas.
We’re sure you’re getting the picture, but to sum up in fewer words, it’s beer production using traditional & ancestral methods. The results are a choice of beers crammed full to the gunnels of purely natural flavours. We are convinced that it’s courtesy of this formula and our absolute conviction, along with the precision and care that’s placed into our beers, we’ve a great recipe for providing our customers with a product that’s original. A unique choice of beers to pour, to sip on and above all to enjoy.
Having launched and tiptoed around our initial & cherished clients in 2016 we are now home to an ever-evolving part of beer making history that is continuing to grow from strength to strength. Our doors are wide open and our welcome is not only cheerful, it’s open-armed and abundant.
